According to research, the true rate of ageing in fit persons is 0.5% per year compared to 2% for the unfit.sarcopenia

As if we needed any reminding about the positive benefits of keeping fit in our older years, this research actually quantifies the effect.

The authors deduce that fitness is equivalent to 1.5 percent per year difference and that a fit person of 70 is biologically the same as an unfit person of 40.

And while the linear worsening deteriorate more rapidly after age 75, it begins from age 25!
